LEWISTON, MAINE - FEBRUARY 2, 2006 - Diamond Phoenix today announced the award of a contract by Bendon Ltd., an international intimate apparel company with offices in the United States, the United Kingdom, Australia, and New Zealand. Bendon has selected Diamond Phoenix to design and integrate a state-of-the-art material handling system for its distribution center in Auckland, New Zealand. The facility is expected to go live in June 2006.
The new system is part of an effort to manage the company’s growth and improve efficiency. The automated store order fulfillment system will combine several technologies, including Pick to Light, Horizontal Carousels, RF picking and Package Conveyor and Sortation . Orders will be picked in parallel across the different technologies and will be conveyed and sorted to 23 order consolidation lanes. Each order consolidation lane will be assigned multiple orders.
The DiamondWare Warehouse Execution System WES™ 3.0 will manage order releases and picking across all technologies, balancing order flow and timing so that order sequence and shipping requirements are maintained.
“The Bendon Team and Diamond Phoenix worked very closely to develop the ideas and solutions that will be implemented. The new system will provide an excellent combination of technologies and business management tools, which will give Bendon the visibility and productivity required to achieve their business goals far into the future,” said Brian Rix, Systems Sales Manager at Diamond Phoenix.
