Phoenix has developed the Diamondware™ Warehouse Execution System
(WES)™ 3.0, a software package that fundamentally changes the traditional
architecture of warehousing and distribution software. It is the 'missing
layer' that ties everything together - managing material flow and order
execution in an integrated manner. The new package was introduced at the
2005 ProMat exhibition in Chicago in January.
Warehouses and distribution centres are typically run on numerous software packages - a warehouse management system, order fulfillment sub-systems, and various material handling control systems. Although each of these packages performs an important function in the operations of a facility, lack of a tightly integrated system results in dramatic losses in productivity and over-investment in material handling equipment.
"By synchronizing order fulfillment, material handling systems, and shipping systems, WES™ increases productivity, reduces capital expense and improves return on investment", explained Graham Boner, UK Sales Director for Diamond Phoenix. He continued, "WES™ brings all of the important execution level functions under one roof. It simplifies overall software integration, reducing the number of host interfaces, and providing features currently unavailable with any other software package."
